EASY AND NO FUZZ AMARETTO SOUR

EASY AND NO FUZZ AMARETTO SOUR

Hi my lovely readers!

Amaretto is one of my favourite liquors and so versatile. It is very sweet on its own with an almond flavour, which I absolutely love as I am a sweet tooth person.

An easy mix is to combine it with orange and cranberry juice, a great sweet and refreshing combination, which I came across during my days working in a pub in London.

However, today I want to bring Amaretto Sour home to you.

I had this drink the first time on a cruise and fell in love with it. It is one of my go to drinks now when I fancy some sort of cocktail, something a bit different from my cider and G&T.

Although the word β€œsour” is in its name, it is not overwhelmingly sour at all. Trust me, you won’t squinch up your face when you drink it. The sweetness of the Amaretto balances nicely with the sourness of the lemon. It is a refreshing and very delicious drink that I urge anyone to give a go if they are into sweet cocktails or want to try something new.

This cocktail could not be any easier to make and as will have all the ingredients needed at home. So, no weird or fancy ingredients required that you will only use once and throw away later.

Ingredients (makes 2 servings):

  • 100 ml Amaretto
  • 70 ml freshly squeezed Lemon Juice
  • 40 ml Simple Syrup*
  • 1 Egg White

Preparation:

  1. Add all ingredients into your cocktail shaker and shake the heck out of your ingredients! πŸ™‚ That is for about 30 seconds.
  2. Now add some ice and shake some more to cool down the ingredients.
  3. Prepare two tumbler glasses, the shorter once that look like whiskey glasses. Fill them up with ice and strain the cocktail mixture into your glasses.

Tada, ready!

If you fancy, you can garnish your glasses. Normally orange wedges and maraschino cherries are used, but maybe just a small slice of lemon will do as well.

I prefer to keep it simple. Moreover, the cocktail is so tasty that I normally finish it very quickly and do not pay much attention to the garnish πŸ™‚

*If you do not have simple syrup at home, you can make this easily yourself. Simple syrup is one part sugar to one part water. All you have to do is heat up the water with the sugar until the sugar is dissolved. That is all. Of course, you need to let the simple syrup cool down before you use it.

I hope you give this drink a go and let me know what you think.

Enjoy!
